About

The author writes these lines in third person, allowing him to use loads of superlatives without looking like a complete wanker.

Jan Minárik has fallen in love with web applications and has been writing them profesionally since 2000. He likes to create functional and technically beautiful things that help others or entertain. He admires effective techniques and tools, especially Haskell programming language.

He studied computer science at Czech Technical University in Prague. He’s a programmer in his soul, he uses abbreviations in speech and smileys in handwriting. A libertarian who thinks it is not necessary to protect people from their own stupidity.

In his free time, he travels, photographs and has been building his own house for the last 3 years. Happily in love and married, without children. He loves Mac and cats.

Jan Minárik is one of the authors of the wonderful web for builders: NejŘemeslníci, the winner of Webexpo 2009 Startup Show, as seen in the Den D show, the Czech version of Dragons’ Den (Shark Tank). More about his experience with NejŘemeslníci can be listened in Czech podcast WebAplikace.cz.

Jan Minárik was also among the creators of a community portal for golfers www.exegolf.com. Right now he works on another project aimed to help people find builders and craftsmen fast: 1188.
